Tinker is losing about 60 people a month to attrition, so the base is constantly hiring more civilian workers.

The Air Force Base has an annual federal payroll of $1.62 billion. The base's civilian payroll alone totals over $1.24 billion.

Much of the new work at the base is being generated by programming software for the B-32 and E-3 aircraft, said Amy Noble, human resources supervisor at the Air Force Maintenance Center in Tinker.

Many of the jobs available at Tinker are in technical fields that require special training and experience. Tinker recently received an expanded expedited hiring authorization that allows the base to streamline the hiring process and make quick job offers at career fairs, Lhamon said.
