glock single stack 40

Glock Single Stack 40 - The Glock 48 was introduced about a year ago and has since gained a fair amount of attention and popularity. There's nothing really new about the G48; It's basically a single-stack G19 that, depending on how you look at it, makes sense or very little.

Being in the habit of training with the G43 and carrying it around the house, I am familiar with the feel, carry and handling of the single stack Glock pistol platform. While the G48 has a longer slide and higher grip, it also has a slightly thicker frame than the G43, so it feels and shoots like a more solid gun than its predecessor.

Since I'm not an active duty combatant or LEO, the only guns I care about are everyday guns; mostly concealed handguns. So I'll admit that I initially had a hard time justifying owning this gun since it's exactly the same length and height as the G19, and even though it's a single stack, it's almost as thick as the G19. So I've long observed that if you can carry a G48, you can carry the much better alternative to the G19. But after some serious thought, I've come to believe that there are legitimate reasons to own and carry the G48. So, after spending some time shooting this single-stack pistol, here are some thoughts for you to consider.

Guns That Might Be Better Than A Glock

The Glock 48 is a 9mm pistol designed for concealed carry. It offers a slightly slimmer alternative to the G19 as a means of reducing weight on the belt and/or for people with smaller hands who don't like a dual-stack grip. Cargo is weight savings vs. a Glock 19 5 grams. The thinner slide and bezel make the G48 slightly easier to conceal than the G19.

Reduced frame width and single-stack magazine mean fewer rounds; The G48 magazine holds 10 rounds. This is the same capacity as the smaller but thicker G26. You can think of this as a lighter sized Commander 1911 that is really reliable.

Other reasons you might consider the G48 is for when you want less weight and easier concealment, but still want near-full grip and a longer slide, and the easier handling and control it offers. Another reason is that you want that smaller option, but still want the very simple mechanics and complete reliability of a Glock.

Because the G48 is a single-stack polymer gun, the G48 is slightly faster than similarly sized double-stack guns. The reduced slide and frame weight only allows you to feel the recoil more. But since I'm used to shooting plastic guns, I found it to be perfectly fine and not at all difficult to handle. I like the full grip of this gun compared to my G43. It provides comfort and confidence.

I've shot the G48 several times before, but for this review the gun I used was a rental gun with several thousand rounds through it, and the trigger was specified at 5.5 pounds. I'm a Glock shooter, so the trigger was a familiar feel and not really a factor in fast strings or accuracy. It was just "normal".

I took the opportunity to get some quick rigs and fast-firing ropes with quick loads while shooting this time. I found these manipulations much easier than with the G43 and almost as easy as with the G19. It's a Glock so the controls are well placed and familiar to me. The longer slide and sight radius than my G43 didn't seem to matter much as I don't have much of a problem with the smaller sight radius of the 43, but the G48 has the longer sight radius and some people may find easier to be. accurate with

The only thing I didn't really like was the almost lack of texture on the grip. The texture of the G48 is the same as the other smaller models such as the 43, 43x and 42, meaning it has almost no texture at all. This is a gun that requires some dash work or, if you hardly ever shoot it, some heel spikes.

It seems to be a pressing question when these two models have shaken up the handgun world in terms of size vs. capacity The answers are certainly subjective, but what an objective that cannot be ignored. Yes, the other two guns are smaller and yes they have the same or better capacity than the G48. But a couple of advantages the G48 has over the other two are that it's lighter and more comfortable to hold, and the fact that it's easier to pull out of a holster and handle/run into a gunfight.

There are certainly advantages that other pistols have over the G48, mostly in terms of personal preference, but the fact is that none of them are a Glock...with widely available parts and accessories and proven reliability . These things mean a lot.

Another thing to note is that there are some new magazines from Shield Arms that, without any extensions, allow 15 rounds in the standard G48 size magazine. While they're obviously not OEM parts, they're exciting in theory. There is a possibility that they reduce the Glock's famed reliability, but the benefit certainly warrants further exploration

(just be sure to replace the polymagnet catch with a metal catch or the steel cams will ruin the catch).

The G48 is a Glock. It's not new and unproven technology, and the G48, like its siblings, is sure to perform reliably for well over 100,000 rounds when properly maintained. The slimmer frame and lighter overall package are more comfortable to carry and easier to conceal than similarly sized models. Shoots and handles more easily like a mid-sized pistol. Maintenance is easy (any part can be replaced in seconds) and new spare parts, sights and accessories are always available. Since it is a Glock, there are many holster models available for it.

Although slightly thinner, the G48 is the same size as the G19, but with five fewer rounds, so overall it seems like an unnecessary compromise. Since it's a Glock, it comes with the stupid polymer sights that have to be replaced (at extra cost). The trigger on the G48 tends to be heavier than what you typically find on larger Glock models. The texture is pretty bad and needs to be changed somehow. It is larger than any other carry weapon of similar or better capacity.

So basically, the Glock 48 is a study in contrasts. There's a lot to like, but it's not too hard to find comparative reviews; perhaps more so than any other gun (except maybe the Glock 43x!). Then I'd say if a Glock is what you prefer, you need to get your hands on one and play around a bit because…
